Outstanding reference work

This technical reference guide is an excellent tool for those data communications folks who have progressed to a level requiring a more intimate understanding of voice and classical telecommunication world. It also helps bridge the chasm for Telco engineers being forced into the Data world. Well written, easily understood examples, and thorough in its treatment of each subject category.

Good book & CD Examples

Let me preface this review by saying I have not quite finished the book and all the accompanying CD exercises. That being said, I am quite pleased with both the book and the examples that are on the CD. I have owned Adobe Audition for about 8 months, and for me the learning curve seemed steep. There several audio industry acronyms that often get tossed around in other Audition tutorials as though everyone knows and understands them. This is not just in the tutorials, but it pervades the Adobe User forum as well. The book goes a long ways toward explaining what is going on without drowning the reader with audio industry yak. The lessons are thoughtfully put together, and subsequent lessons build on concepts covered in previous ones. I learned more in one evening with the book and its CD than in weeks of studying other material including the Adobe Audition User's Manual. This book extremely useful, and does an excellent job of helping especially neophytes in learning and using the truly powerful capabilities of Audition. Was my moula well spent - absolutely!

A really good investment...

I have purchased and read all of the books on Cocoa that are currently on the market and consider this the best. Aaron's background with Next and Apple is evident as he guides the reader through a well thought series of explanations and examples that build throughout the book. After reading the book I signed up and took Aaron's course on Cocoa at the Big Nerd ranch which is also highly recommended. The coding and teaching style of the book is more object oriented and cleaner than some of the examples in other Cocoa books that I have read. This book will allow someone with basic programming skills to come up to speed on one of the most significant programming environments that is available. Buy the book and then take the class!

A Total Waste of Paper

This book is worthless. It tells you nothing. Every single peice of needed information is found on the playonline website. Basically this book is one big advertisement for the website disguised as a guide book. You can easily beat the game without it, or the help on the website. The book is not necessary, nor does it give any real helpful information. Don't waste the money.
