Excellent guide to learning python for beginners+

I have the 1st edition of this book published in 1999. the 2004 edition is improved in numerous ways and offers excellent examples, thorough explanations and a more gentle learning curve than any other programming book I have ever read.
I generally use Python to interface with linux/unix for scripting. I find it MUCH beter than perl for this. the minute I am done with a perl script, my understanding of it begins to deteriorate. Python is just the opposite. Full OOP makes code reuse a reality. clean, understandable syntax makes code I wrote 6 months ago easy to fire up and understand.
This is an excellent book. If you are interested in Python, get it.

Amazing work!

Amazingly comprehensive: Covers everything about XSLT theories and the implementations of different processors.
Amazingly updated: It is published in April 2000, and covers information as updated as March 2000.
Amazingly error-free: No major errors were found after my first round!
Amazingly low-priced. It is actually a 780+ page book, not 400 pages as indicated, at the marked price!

About time

Harald Johnson has prepared a fantastic book. It is comprehensive in it's scope; packed with information on photographic and fine art printing from the desktop to the highest end service bureau. I greatly appreciate the organization of the book as well as how Mr. Johnson anticipates the readers concerns by providing complete definitions and cross references throughout. I highly recommend this book for everyone with an interest in understanding digital printing as well as those wishing to master their own printing.

Not a good training manual

This book is too inconsistent to be of any real use in my opinion, riddled with discrepancies throughout the manual to the point of total confusion when compared with actual Suite MX 2004 applications.

I Honestly found myself in the middle like a referee between this manual's errors and my MX suite where the book indicates steps that the application cannot perform because it's not stated correctly, it does not indicates where thing are located clear.

I got more useful applicable information from the programs tutorial section than this book which is riddled with miscalculated steps in the process, this books is not a good source for learning this powerful Studio MX Suite 2004 and how to integrate them together. Try Eric Hunley's book instead.

Stay away from buying this book, instead spend the money on a nice dinner for your significant other, you'll find more satisfaction in that then trying to follow this mess of instructions. Good Luck.
