Title: Building Web Solutions with ASP.NET and ADO.NET

Extremely good book for Intermediate to Advanced readers

This is quite a good book on real techniques to solve real problems. It's still going to be useful if you use for you're development third party controls and frameworks, you still will find valuable information inside. I wouldn't recommend it for the very beginner that wants a Learn-This-In-1-Hour book (and keep yourself in the ignorance :-)).
For anybody else with certain degree of familiarity with the .Net environment, the book is going to be extremely useful.

Configuring SAP R/3 FI/CO: The Essential Resource for Config

I am a CPA/MBA who entered the world of SAP consulting about 2 years ago, and I have purchased many publications on SAP during that time. This is by far the most useful and practical that I have found to-date. The authors have done an outstanding job of clearly presenting basic SAP functionality in a manner that not only enhances the reader's grasp of SAP methodology, but also provides a useful desktop reference with illustrative examples and real world scenarios. While many of my other publications gather dust, I find I am constantly turning to this one. Highly recommended!

Title: Microsoft ASP.NET Step by Step
Publisher: Microsoft Press
Authors: G. Andrew Duthie

A mile wide - an inch deep

This book is a simple introduction to ASP.NET. The examples are of the "hello world" variety.
I found the book particularly weak in web security which definitely requires more detail. For example, passport authentication gets only one paragraph on p 194.
I bought the book in the hopes of getting good background for the ASP.NET certification exam ( 70-315 ). If passing this exam is your goal, I suggest you look elsewhere. I found Jessie Liberty's book much better ( still far from perfect ), but at least the Liberty book contains some solid technical writing and examples.

Title: Beginning Visual C++ 6
Publisher: Wrox
Authors: Ivor Horton
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
Buy this one if you want to master it through

As everybody knows Visual C++ is a must who is going to write big Windows applications. This book is the one out there which can teach you how to begin with it, if you only had experience with other programming languages or have patience and can slowly and carefully read through 1200 pages full of information. It is even a good book if you know yourself around with C++ programming and just want to learn Visual C++.
Ivor Horton's style is very straight forward and if you are interested in programming it keeps you going through all those pages without actually being boring or repeating itself. I can only say this book is really a 5 stars out of 5.
