An essential bok for every C/C++ programmer.

This book has been referred to as the "the K&R book".
I first read this book when I took my first programming class in school. 12 years later, and I still use it as a reference occasionally.
I recommend this book for everyone who is a C/C++ programmer. You might say that you don't need this if you only do C++ programming, but this will help you to understand the foundations of how C and C++ work.
If I was only allowed to have one programming book, this would be the one to get.
This book is like the bible of C programming. If you ever have a dispute with a collegue over a C programming issue, this book will help you solve your argument.
If you ever have to interview for a C programming job, and you just want to brush up on things, this is the book to buy.

Title: Beginning PHP 5 and MySQL: From Novice to Professional
Publisher: Apress

Perfect PHP and MySQL Book.

I just got done putting all of my other PHP developer books on the shelf. The author does an excellent job of providing rich explanations, relevant coding examples, and insight to a broad range of topics that all PHP5 developers will use. Don't get me wrong, there is no fluff in this book, its all PHP and MySQL muscle.
I'm constantly drawn back to advanced topics such as XML, LDAP, web services, SOAP, OOP in PHP5, advanced MySQL, and secure programming in PHP. Key concepts are amazingly well presented and easy to understand. This resource has already made a positive impact on how my applications are developed.
Not to take away from the beginning developer, there are chapters for warming up to PHP and MySQL. Within no time you'll be writing PHP code and have at your fingertips an excellent resource for building advanced PHP and MySQL web applications.
A+++++++ for the author.

Disjoint

OK... This is a book on PIC programming....
So the first piece of code in the book is a "Hello World" program on page 19, WRITTEN in 8088 ASSEMBLER and C.
So this is a book on PIC programming. The author did put some PIC code in, on page 25. But I am sure he could have picked something better than the basic code for an interrupt handler in c.
This is not how to teach someone to program...
I am sure that if you know how to program a PIC then the book makes sense. If not, stay away from this book.
