Clear but not for beginners

I learned ASP through this book and it was painful. But now that I know what I'm doing I use it all the time.

Title: Revised Core Rulebook (Star Wars Roleplaying Game)
Publisher: Wizards of the Coast
Authors: Bill Slavicsek, Andy Collins, J.D. Wiker, Steve Sansweet
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
Great game system revised

I was highly impressed when the original D20 Star Wars game was released. Even with a book full of typographical errors, the rules worked much better than I had expected. The revised rules are lightyears ahead of the original D20 rules... overall, a much better product. I higly recommend this book for anyone who likes Star Wars

Title: Sams Teach Yourself SQL in 10 Minutes, Third Edition
Publisher: Sams
Authors: Ben Forta
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
True to its title, and easy to understand

I'm so tired of the "XXX for Dummies" and "XXX in 500 easy lessons" books -- they are usually either so general as to be useless, or require so much prior knowledge as to be redundant.
Forta's book is none of the above! I had to learn the bare essentials of SQL (enough to be conversant and somewhat functional) in under a week, and this book was the ticket. There's enough information and detail to be useful and accurate, without the jargon and technical minutiae only the hard-core techies *really* need or want. It's organized logically, and the table of contents and appendices are wonderful!
I have been able to avoid using the "official" [1200+ page] SQL documentation for my application/system because of this book, and for that I am very grateful! I highly recommend it.

Title: The Protocols (TCP/IP Illustrated, Volume 1)
Publisher: Addison-Wesley Professional
Authors: W. Richard Stevens
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
An Intuitive Approach To Learning TCP/IP

This book, although dated, explains the protocols clearly with a good number of examples and diagrams. Exercises further enhance the reader's understanding of TCP/IP. This reviewer started his computer networking career using this book as a guide. Together with a PC running Linux or FreeBSD, one can learn from the book a great deal and in depth. It is sad that W. Richard Stevens passed away; hopefully, someone would be able to update this book in the spirit as it was originally made.
