Title: Professional ASP.NET 1.1 (Programmer to Programmer)
Publisher: Wrox
Authors: Alex Homer, Dave Sussman, Rob Howard, Brian Francis, Karli Watson, Richard Anderson
Rating: 5/5

Thorough, good examples, screenshot heavy

This is one of those great all-in-one tome books. Some of which are great, like this one. While others are little more than doorstops. The text is well written, though, like most Wrox books it relies heavily on code to do most of the exposition. Almost every topic you can think of is covered. Basic topics like controls, page design and security. Then onto more advanced topics like XML and mobile development. That's how you get to the tome size. But the coverage is consistently well written. So if you like your books in the all-in-one flavor, this is a good book for ASP.NET 1.1.

Excellent resource for essential PC knowledge.

Thanks Ron, your book gave me quick answers and insight into what to expect on the A+ exams. Along with one other resource manual and a practice test off the Internet, I crammed for a mere 3 weeks and am now A+ certified. Thanks again.

new version is easy to use and teach with

The text has been completed reformatted to one column, with linear steps and boxed commands. I used the previous four versions and this is the easiest to follow- learn from and teach with. Provides comprehensive coverage of Pro/E part, assembly, and detail modules. Includes the complete Pro/ENGINEER Tryout Edition for free. Tryout Edition is an educational version of the Pro/E software and comes with Pro/MECHANICA, Animation and Mechanism Modules.

One of the three Great Excelent Books!

Great, great, great! A wonderfull book. But some of the comments I've read above miss the point of the book because... well, perhaps they haven't read OTHER books that might help. For example, critics of GEB without reading "The Selfish Gene" (by Dawkins) should not be taken in account. For, if "functionalim" doesn't specifie necessary and sufficient conditions for reference, melt it with Darwinism, and you'll have it. Beside that, GEB has alloud me to really understand Dam?sio's books, "Descartes's Error" and "The felling of what happens", his latest. Read them and you'll see that Damasio's construct of the mind is a very godelian one - or better, a Hofstadterian one. Reason, Emotion and Imagination, all these are subsistems that may communicate in godelian ways (what was that Pascal was trying to say with 'the heart has reasons that reason itsel does not know of'?).
Read GEB - it's a Great, Excelent Book
