Unsettling but necessary

Like powerful medicine, the "Hacking Exposed" series of books are unsettling and unnerving, but ultimately required reading for anyone serious about Internet security. The Web Application installment of the series covers exploits related to client- and server-side applications, as well as database and Web service compromises. For beginners, the book includes a section on server hacking, complete with explanations of the "script kiddie" tools that are nonetheless powerful and potentially damaging. And naturally, much emphasis is placed on security best practices and specific techniques for blocking potentially devastating exploits.

Must read for any serious J2EE developer or architect

There are many other EJB books on the market, but Kathy and Bert make the learning experience FUN. If you follow Kathy and Bert study recommendations, you will past the EJB certification test. I know because I was a beta tester for the real sun exam. This book will definitely improve your EJB understanding level. I was one of several technical reviewers who reviewed the book prior to release. I have the following SUN certifications: SCJP, SCJD, SCWCD, SCEA. I will have my EJB certification by the end on November.

CISSP exam and the Information Security Management Handbook

I see in the reviews of this book that it can be used for the CISSP exam. If you have taken the exam or are studying for it I'd like to ask you what you found or are finding to be useful in preparing for the exam. You can contact me at chris.mauro@esi.baesystems.com. If this book is the end-all be-all, so be it. I'm curious to know if the SRV books are useful or if the (ISC)2 seminar is this ticket. thx.
