Really Fast Track!!

Wrox guys, you have done it really well. I am a beginner to C# but have previous experience with C/C++. Really wanted to get into the C# field. Tried 2-3 books but was bogged down by details everytime. Then I got hold of this book. Man this is awesome...really takes no time if you have some programming background..esp. OO related.

Just devote 1-2 hours for each chapter..and this will cause the Sams 24 hours series some serious worries.

Totally Worthless

Here, with a few hours reading, you can get the essence of database industry. A very well done text that avoids a lot of the mathematics in the field (like Date's and Ullman).

Easy-to-follow guide highly recommended

Hibernate In Action is an effective user's manual for the open-source Java tool of Hibernate, which has exploded in popularity due to its automation of a tedious task: persisting Java objects to a relational database, a task made laborious by the necessity of having to write code that maps one's object-oriented code to a relational database or vice-versa. Hibernate In Action explains the basic workings of Hibernate with examples, detailed instructions for using it, how to deal with concurrency and transactions, efficiently retrieving objects, caching, and much more. Diagrams and sample codes further elucidate this no-nonsense, easy-to-follow guide highly recommended for anyone tapping into the streamlined power of Hibernate.

Good book with bad CD

I used this book to prepare for exam that I successfully passed. My overall impression from the book is very positive. It is well-structured; all explanations are clear and concise. It is strongly focused at exam and doesn't spend your time on irrelevant topics. I think it covers not less than 90% of what you need for exam. I recommend reading it along with enquiring Books Online.
However it has noticeable amount of typos. Most of them are quite obvious, but I can recall at least a couple of typos that really made me confused.
The companion CD is much worse. I expected the tests from CD to be a real help, but their format made them very inconvenient to use. Moreover, some test questions seemed to be corrupted. Honestly I think the CD is nearly useless.
SUMMARY: this book is not ideal; however it can be certainly used to prepare for the exam.
