Not for everyone

My first warning is that Jackson's text makes a terrible reference. If you want to thumb through to find a little nugget of information, you're going to get really really frustrated.

My second warning is that Jackson's text is, from a pedagogical standpoint, pretty lousy. It's not the book's intent to try to impart any physical intuition or knowledge of how E+M works. Deep familiarity and comfort with the foundations of E+M is an aboslute requirement. Jackson gives an extraordinarily rigorous exploration of various topics in E+M, but there's absolutely no pandering to the reader, and very little discussion outside of the mathematics.

What is this book good for, then? For most physics graduate students, the answer is "not very much." If you make it through the book, you'll have a great many powerful mathematical tools at your disposal to deal with many obscure E+M problems. However, there's really not much more value than that. It's not going to improve your physical intuition, your mathematical intuition, or your basic grasp of physics. This really shouldn't be the standard graduate E+M text; it's trying to teach a level or proficiency that 95% of physicists will never need.

Some great topics, but too thin!

This book covers some great topics, but not in enough detail in some of the areas I had hoped. I was shocked when I received the book because I was expecting a typical thick geek book--a disappointment for spending $(...)!

Illustrator CS Classroom in a Book

Adobe Illustrator CS Classroom in a Book is comprehensive and clearly written, and it is based on a series of exercises that effectively guide students in mastering both the tools and the concepts of Illustrator. The Pen tool exercises, if followed carefully, comprise a complete training regime for this necessary tool. This book, with its included CD-ROM, is a thorough course of study for creating in Illustrator and for utilizing Illustrator files in other applications. Chapter 18, Combining Illustrator Graphics and Photoshop Images, is an excellent example of the practicality of this text. This book is a bargain, and a must have for serious computer graphics students and artists.

We use it in a cram course last year

I found some of the reviews interesting and would like to put a few comment of my own-We used David Kroenke "Database Processing: Fundamentals, Design, and Implementation" in a cram course for preparation of graduate placement test here in Chulalongkorn University last year, and everyone was happy with it, especially it offers very clear concept of database and database design, internet. I don't know why some of the "Amrican" reviewers give it a very low rating. May be for those reviewers who found the text difficult are not well prepared in the technology yet, in this case may be they can try some 24 days or dummy types of book...
