Just What We Needed

VERY DISAPPOINTING !!This book is a prime example of not delivering what it promises.I got a bad feeling about the book after I realised that it did not even appear to have been proof read properly - it's like a bad home editing job, where someone has used a content and index creation tool without checking the formatting first. For example, Sub Queries don't appear in the index. Another example - Part 1 and Part 3 don't even appear in the contents pages. Also some of the examples just plain don't work!!It looks like a rushed job and the bulk of the book is aimed at beginner level students. I can't believe the book has such a high star rating. Very Poor - best look elsewhere !

Title: Sams Teach Yourself ABAP/4 in 21 Days
Publisher: Sams
Authors: Ken Greenwood
Rating: 2/5

Hmmm, not what I'd expected.

I found the book EXTREMELY heavy on data dictionaries and internal tables, but VERY light (read - non existing) on external file imports or exports. It didn't have a section on BDC's. Functions & parameters were at the very end of the book (2/21 days!). One of the things I found most frustrating was that the book never indicated the version of SAP it was running on. While not a deal breaker, screen cams were hard to follow because they didn't look anything like my 4.5B system at work! If you want to learn about data I/O & reporting, I would suggest spending your money on "Introduction to ABAP/4 - Programming for SAP" instead.

An Outstanding Book on SIP

I'll keep it short and sweet. I am one of the authors of SIP andof many of its related technologies that are discussed in this book. As such, I am frequently asked by people how theycan quickly understand the benefits of SIP technology, whyit is important to them, and what it can enable. The answer issimple - read the Sinnreich/Johnston book. The book helps youunderstand how SIP, its extensions, and related technologiesall fit together, and why SIP is revolutionizing communications. This is a fabulous piece of work, written by two recognizedleaders. I highly recommend it.

Mike Dell is a modern day Henry Ford!

Just as Henry Ford pioneered the automobile industry, so has Michael Dell pioneered the computer industry.
This book is a easy read, but highly informative. I also bought the tapes which I play in my car.
I have reread this book 4 times and I always come up with a new idea that is profitable to my business.
