The good and the bad parts of this book.

I am biased because I also write computer books, including several for O'Reilly & Associates. That makes me even more sensitive to what makes a good book. In this case, it's the level of detail and of technical accuracy that really makes this book shine. Mr. Lowe-Norris clearly knows what he's talking about, and by the time you read the book you will too. The hidden gem is the book's Part III, which is dedicated to teaching you how to script AD using the ADSI interfaces. I frequently recommend this book to students in my classes on the strength of this part alone-- whenever someone asks for a good scripting book, this is my default recommendation. It's that good.

GET IT!!!

Get this book. That's really all that needs to be said. I'm a java guy learning flash, and what works best for me is a collection of practical (and useable in the real world) applications. That's exactly what this book is. And it's not the same thing you read in almost every programming book: 'this is a loop, this is a variable, this is a method...'. Useless stuff you have to wade thru to get to the meat. (...). I'm on MX 2004, and the book is for MX. (...) I can't wait for the next addition!!!

This book has brought me closer to my Mac. =)

I could not believe a technical book could be, at once, amusing yet helpful. As I turned the pages, I laughed, I learned, I bought an iMac. Now, I am almost finished with More Mac For Dummies and all I want is MORE!!! Please, Mr. Pogue, MORE MORE Mac For Dummies. Thank you so much.
