Great information, ideas and inspiration!

These two have a lot of information for anyone interested extending their knowledge in DV. I've talked with Trish via email, and that lady is great! She has so much to offer and so does Chris. It is sad that the format is 4.1 but you don't learn anything by opening up someone else's work. DV and anything else is learn by doing. After Effects on Windows! The Mac is the only way to go for DV, remember Photoshop and many of the Adobe products were written for Macintosh and then eventually written for Windows. It doesnt cost $30,000 dollars to get a system going. Use this book and the knowledge in it and expand your horizons. A firm 5 stars for this book! Hope they do another book soon!

Cryptography Decrypted

Cryptography Decrypted is perhaps the best introduction to current cryptography available. It covers everything you'd expect from a cryptography book (symmetric key, public key, MACs, SSL, IPsec) but does so using pictures. Nearly every page has a friendly diagram explaining otherwise complicated details, all without cheapening the content. No mathematical background is required, but you'll pick up some number theory by the time you've finished reading it. A co-worker of mine who bought the book said "My spouse could understand this!". Cryptography Decrypted is for anyone who likes to learn on their own, or for security folks that find themselves regularly explaining cryptography to less technical individuals.

Title: Professional Excel Development : The Definitive Guide to Developing Applications Using Microsoft(R) Excel and VBA(R)

Perfect guide for the Excel (and all VBA apps) developer

Being a full time Excel consultant and developer I have heard many times the same thing that the authors put in the introduction: "Excel as a development tool ? that's not for serious use...".

However, this book is the way to prove them wrong. They show the reader how to turn your Excel-based applications into a professional one, without having to sacrifice all the good things that you have when you code in Excel (and other VBA enabled applications).

The best textbook I have ever seen

I was the instructor for a junior/senior course on Algorithms at the University of Southern California and I used this book as the textbook. Unfortunately, many of the students didn't like this book because they did not appreciate the mathematical flavor of the book. A course on Algorithms is useless without a sound background in discrete mathematics. Hence, this book assumes that you are reasonably strong in Discrete Mathematics.
I haven't seen a better textbook ! Here are some reasons:
1. The discrete mathematics foundations are present in the first few chapters of this book and so, you can quickly brush up on any discrete math background that you may require while using this book.
2. The style of writing is very light and at the same time, rigorous - almost as if you are in the middle of a lecture while reading the book.
3. The material is comprehensive and serves as an excellent reference for other courses and in your future career.
4. The exercises and problems provide a very good learning experience.
5. It's a good-looking book !
