Title: The Hidden Power of Photoshop Elements 2
Publisher: Sybex Inc
Authors: Richard Lynch
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
Great addition for Elements users

I've been a user of Photoshop Elements (1.0) for about 6 months. In addition to providing 'hidden' tools within Elements (curves, channels, masks) this book provides good tips and suggestions for general digital photo editing and enhancements. The book is very detailed, but the accompanying cd provides examples from the book (to follow along) and also the hidden tools to update either Elements 1.0 or 2.0. The author is extremely knowledegable and he makes himself available for any questions/suggestions on his web site, and in various forums and discussion groups on the web. I highly recommend this book for Element users who want the power of full blown photoshop without the price.

Title: C# and the .NET Platform, Second Edition
Publisher: Apress
Authors: Andrew Troelsen
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
Great Primer.

This book is not for beginner programers. It is excelent for people coming from VB, C++ or Java. It gives you a solid base on the .Net framework as well as the C# language touching both at the same time but in a coherent manner. Of the more specific subjects touch in the book the one on Data Access is ourstanding. It is also a great book to do from start to finish as the layout of the chapters favor this. You may want to supplent this book with a book for specifics about web technologies (I can recommend Programming Microsoft.Net by Jeff Prosise) and one dealing with data access (Microsoft ADO.NET Core Reference by David Sceppa is a good choice).

Title: The Algorithm Design Manual
Publisher: Springer
Authors: Steve S. Skiena
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
A very practical reference in designing algorithm

Nice to have this book handy if you need to design efficient algorithms for your programs. This is more of a reference than to teach you what algorithms are out there, so you better know them before using this book. That said, this book is quite unique since it differs from a typical algorithm book on the market. Skiena has done a great job in presenting the material. I find this book really handy, definately recommanded.
