Title: A+ Certification for Dummies
Publisher: For Dummies
Authors: Ron Gilster
Rating: 4/5
Customer opinion - 4 stars out of 5
Good Book!!

I was recently hired for a job as a PC repair tech and had 90 in which to get my A+. I bought the book and started to read. 60 days later I am a A+ certified tech. This was the only book that I read. The reason that I give the book only 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the mistakes. There are many. If you purchase the flash cards that go with it, then be prepared. The cards are nothing more than a bunch of mistakes. On one note about the mistakes in the book though, if you do have a question, the author is more than willing to explain the correct answers. I emailed Ron several times and always got a prompt reply. I have recommended this book to everyone that I know is studying for the test

Title: Java Development with Ant
Publisher: Manning Publications
Authors: Steve Loughran
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
Elegant denseness - Like all the other Manning books

I was expecting an in-depth coverage of all the built-in Ant tasks (e.g., javac) as well as the fine points of filesets, patternsets, etc. I was disappointed to find that this text doesn't cover these in much more detail than the standard Ant documentation. However, its coverage of using Ant with JUnit, CVS and ftp has been tremendously helpful in my current project, and I've referred to it many times since receiving it.

Title: Creating Motion Graphics with After Effects (With CD-ROM)
Publisher: CMP Books

"THE" book for After Effects

If you are only going to buy one book about AE, then get this one. Is not only the best book on the subject - that I have read - but the best book about about any program I have worked with... And I have quite a collection. This two know the program like if they made it themselves. They are never patronising, they have a wonderful sense of humour at the right times, and best of all they manage to really teach you the program in such a way that you feel really really competent with it. A lot of extras includedin the cd, they went to the trouble of creating lots of versions of everything they talk about so you understand exactly. You also learned a lot about general stuff. Like video and film standards, vector and pixel art import methods and handling, etc... Nothing was overlooked. A really great book

Title: Information Theory, Inference & Learning Algorithms
Publisher: Cambridge University Press

A must have...

Uniting information theory and inference in an interactive and entertaining way, this book has been a constant source of inspiration, intuition and insight for me. It is packed full of stuff - its contents appear to grow the more I look - but the layering of the material means the abundance of topics does not confuse.

This is _not_ just a book for the experts. However, you will need to think and interact when reading it. That is, after all, how you learn, and the book helps and guides you in this with many puzzles and problems.
