Excellent book!

This is an excellent book for those interested in learning how to program with c++. I used and enjoyed the third edition and now really enjoy the 4th edition. I have seen both intro and intermediate students benefit greatly from this book. With all of the technology books out there that fail to have working code in them, buying this book really makes you feel like your money was well spent! The authors really know their stuff and can teach it to the reader also. This book is not (just a book) that you read and then forget what you went over. This book has valuable examples that will help to sharpen anyones skills or teach them new ones in an efficient manner. Highly recommended!!!

Title: Thinking in C++, Volume 1: Introduction to Standard C++ (2nd Edition)
Publisher: Prentice Hall
Authors: Bruce Eckel
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
Fabulous Book for learning C++

When I first picked this book up, I did not know
anything about C++ or object-oriented programming.
Now that I have finished the book and used C++
in my projects at work, It almost seems like
I always must have known C++.

This book is terrific. When reading the book,
you can tell that Eckel was an experienced and
effective C++ teacher before he wrote this book.
He knows where students get confused and does a
great job at explaining those points clearly.

After you learn C++ using this book and you want
to express yourself fully, I recommend
"Thinking in C++, Volumn 2".

Title: Routing TCP/IP Volume I (CCIE Professional Development)
Publisher: Cisco Press
Authors: Jeff Doyle

Absolutely outstanding!

This book is an exceptional reference for preparing for CCIE and for knowing Cisco IGP implementation, although, I assume many hands-on practice labs and work experience are also required in addition to it. It made my life easier, thinking that CCIE and expertise in IGPs are attainable. All chapters are great, especially OSPF, but I think redistribution and filtering wouldn't hurt to have more examples. I would suggest a second edition in order to cover features and commands added by Cisco, since the first one came out, increase its difficulty and add few more case studies and troubleshooting scenarios to complete it. This book is so great for the theoretical explanation of IGPs and not for their practical application. It would've been another 1000 pages to accomplish that. Actually, I think CiscoPress and Jeff should publish a book only with IGPs case studies, troubleshooting (real-world, basic, moderate and very difficult cases) and technical tips given the complexity of this information. Anyway, look no further! This is the world's number one book about Cisco interior routing protocols.

Title: Advanced Programming in the UNIX(R) Environment

Clearly the Bible of Unix - GREAT

This is the BEST and most complete book on Programming Unix. If you're hiring an Unix developer and he doesn't own a copy of this book, he's clearly just a hack. Stevens writing style is clear, easy to read and provides alot of insight. Had a little trouble getting some of the examples to run on Linux but,learned a great deal while figuring out why. ;-)
