This is a very small book

I dind't noticed how small this book when I bought it, and I thought I should warn you about it. It's a size of a pocket book. Of course this doesn't mean it has no information however it doesn't brings you alot of insights. I would reconsider before buying it.

Excellent references

Andre Lamothe is one of those rare kind who can really make complicated concepts easy to understand. You can be sure that you won't waste your time reading his book (unlike a lot of other books dealing with this subject). One day when I write a book, I want to write like him.

6 star rating! A very gentle reading on a complex language.

I haven't completed the entire book but so far so good. The book is a great help for Non-programmers that are trying to get up to speed in Java. The explanations, examples and exercises are awesome.

The way the book is structured is also outstanding. If you are the type of person trying to understand what Java is about and being able to code without struggling with too much technical jargon, this book is for you.

I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in learning Java from scratch.

In addition the list of frustrating Java books presented by one of the reviewers I would add Thinking in Java, it might be a great book for Intermediate or Advanced user but for beginners "No way Jose" too complex and very hard to follow.

I have completed this book now and I think the 5 stars that I original assigned to the book are well preserved, this book is a great jump-start for Java newbies. Excellent book in a nutshell.

My 2 cents

A thought-provoking book

My favorite Penrose book! Though probably totally off-base, it was a fun read.
