Title: CCNP BSCI Exam Certification Guide (CCNP Self-Study, 642-801), Third Edition
Publisher: Cisco Press
Authors: Clare Gough
Rating: 3/5
Customer opinion - 3 stars out of 5
On the fence for this one.

This book has plenty of information. It could serve better as reference book while working in the real world, which is preventing me from returning it.
Since this book is a certification guide specifically for the BSCI, it falls short. It should have included 3 router lab setups for each topic. It does show configuration examples, however they are only for 1 or 2 routers displayed in the figures. This is a huge disapointment.
A typo has already been identified on the Networking Professional website on Policy-based routing, and even a refernce to the number 642-801, was typed as 640-801.
The BSCI also requires to identify the steps to confiure a router for NAT with overlaod, static translations, and route maps. The NAT section of this book does not provide configuration examples. Another disapointment.

"THE" Perl Book

This book has absolutly everything you'll need to know about Perl. The only other book I would recommend is Learning Perl from O'Reilly. I develop CGIs for a job, and this book is an invaluable reference. I have been much impressed with this book. BUY IT! =)

Great book.

I think that a book for computer programming can only be evaluated by the manner how we use it.Almost a year passed since I bought the Mastering Visual Basic .NET Database Programming and this book is still on my desk and is used regularly for advice. The book covers nearly all areas of .Net Framework technology and it is exceptionally useful for people who like me do not have a programming, but rather an engineering background. As marine engineer I can say that this book helped me a lot in my job.I am sure that a lot of my colleagues are a little bit upset about the continuous changes of the software environment. The people who write the software for the marine industry did not completely understand the marine terminology and engineering logic on board. As customers we still cannot find a `ready product' that is suitable for our purpose.I presume that a lot of my colleagues try to write their own applications as is requested on board. Therefore I would say without hesitation that this book is exactly written for people with a similar background to mine in an exceptionally simple and comprehensible language.Of course the technology is changing by hour, but the basic knowledge one should know can be found in this book.
