At last! At Last!

A book on programming Objective C that doesn't require you to know C first! This one is long overdue. It's well organized. It's very clear and it's loaded with sample code you can enter as you learn. Here's the important thing, it teaches you how to write code in Objective C while avoiding the construction of interfaces. As odd as that may seem, this really does make life simpler in the beginning. What is really nice is that it shows you how do this while using X-Tools or Project Builder editors so you do not have to be a "command-line cowboy" to program the Mac.

Great stuff!

This book has it all!

I received this book for my birthday this last October and its been a god send. It has all kinds of tips that one wouldn't think of using.
The main thing I like about this book is that it shows you ways to fix those photos that didn't turn out so good. For instance it shows you how to remove a shadow from someone's face that you've snapped. Someone has acne problems? That's simple.
Although it seems really simple now the best thing I learned was how to get quality prints from the digital photos I took (basically change the DPI!).
Learning these techniques are very easy as each one is done in a step by step fashion. Scott even gives some advanced tips that beginners can do as well (IMHO)
I'd recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in digital photography and wants to make their photos look as good as possible.

What a powerhouse!

I've just finished reading through this book and I can't say enough good things about it! The patterns are great; the structure of the book *and* the patterns is impressive -- a real pattern language! I love the real-world, non-software examples. That helps new readers understand and helps users remember what the pattern is all about. With an all-start cast of writers, you would expect good things but this is a must have! A 5* addition for your pattern collection.

Good for newbies.

If you have little or no programming experience then this book is THE place to start learning about Perl. But if you are an experienced programmer then I highly advise that you skip this book as it is very very basic and instead go straight to the book "Programming Perl".
