THE Software Construction Book

This book, in my opinion, is one of the books that is absolutely VITAL for any person involving in the software development lifecycle. It's a must have. The book covers so many aspects of the topic so well, that it is amazing it's not required for people entering the field. The book will be a resource/reference for any programmer, regardless of experience, language, and role. It covers all major aspects of code construction, from variable usage to code-tuning. Although much of the book is common sense, there is a great deal that you never really thought about, but after reading it, you'll see how much better your development cycle could be. It is a MUST HAVE.

Tough reading but indepth content

I was new to XML so I wanted a complete reference instead of tidbits. The XML Bible is that complete reference book. You are expected to understand HTML before embarking in this book and I would say it is a requirement. Without it, you'll be lost. The examples the author uses are too long (many are 2-3 pages) for the concept he is trying to explain. So that makes it more reading material than hands on. Other than that though, I have found the book useful.

Helpful in a real life programming way...

I am not usually a big fan of Wrox books, but this book is very good. It gives real life examples which are helpful to any web based programmer. Examples include how to build your own File Manager to cut out FTP completely or just to use when your on the road. They also include a large section on user authentication and site navigation. Another good part of this book is the format. They do not simply start devulging information, but use a real life step by step solution, including the problem, a design to solve the problem, and then pratical code to solve said problem. If your new to ASP.NET this would be a great and very pratical book to pick up, even if just for the great code examples that are available for download on the Wrox FTP site.

Invaluable tool for anyone in the Telecom Industry

As my exposure to different areas of Telecom expands, I find this reference to be indispensable. I bought my first copy when I entered industry, with the intention of using it to initially come up to speed, but I find I use it more an more, as my core areas of expertise branch out.
The only way I can think to improve upon it, would be to create a version available on cdrom, with a search engine and bookmarking capabilities.
