Avoid "Stalled Thinking", Have it your way!

The Dell story will be told many times over. Every once in a while we find a new way to serve a vast and hungry customer base. McDonalds may have been the last large revolution, but that formula can sell more than hamburgers. Dell has discovered how to deliver "fast-serve" computers and using the Burger King motto "Have it your way". Clearly the focus on customers has been the key strength, but the ability to control inventory, develop strong supplier arrangements, custom build and ship and use the "Lean Thinking" ideas, has created one of the most respected and successful companies of the decade. Will they continue to exceed all expectations in the next decade? I think so. First, using some of the ideas from "The 2,000 Percent Solution", by Donald Mitchell, Carol Coles and Robert Metz, Michael Dell asks the right questions. One can only succeed by asking the right questions (many of these questions may be found in "The 2,000 Percent Solution") Second, Dell has avoided the "stalls" that hamper progress in most companies: The Communications Stall (the message is not understood), The Disbelief Stall (We can't do it), The Traditions Stall (We've always done it this way), The Bureaucratic Stall (too many unproductive policies and procedures), The Misconceptions Stall ( based on poor assumptions) and The Unattractiveness Stall (not wanting to wade in murky waters). Dell should continue to soar directly upwards.

fundemental,indepth books in XML programming

At last I finished reading this book, and couldn't help writing a brief review for it: this book tells many fundemental skills you need to know regarding XML. Focusing on the programming with .Net Framework instead of how to use .Net VisualStudio, this book gives you a solid knowledge to help you master XML programming. Many advanced topic are introduced, such as .Net Remoting, security, COM interoperability. But if you wanna know much more about these advanced topic, more detailed books you will need to read. But so far, after reading this book, you get a solid and general idea about XML programming with .Net framework. You will not get fooled any more with how these technologies are applied to the applications. Besides, the author gives insight comment and review regarding these topic in a relatively netural way, which gives you more option to develop your application and provide objective choices in achieving the goal. Finally, if you are interested in Web Service, Security, .Net Remoting, COM interoperability, additional books are requied to you. But so far, this book really provides a general solid knowledge for you to go any further. And what i wish to tell is this book is definitely not for beginers, many other concept should you get to know before reading this book, otherwise you will find it is hard to follow the auther.

Title: Mastering Autodesk Architectural Desktop
Publisher: Autodesk Press
Authors: Paul F. Aubin
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
Good but check content for errors.

Using Mastering ADT by Aubin is probably the only method for learning ADT R3 without going to class. There are other books but these are not in the class of the Aubin text. Of course, in these days of fast and cheap, there are errors in the writing (e.g. page 220, corner railing -the railing is in the horizontal plane including the connectors and not continuous with the other railings -Check the outcome in 3D). Possibly, Autodesk should have more qualified checkers. In the least there should be a newsgroup where errors can be filed or in the alternate an email address for such purposes. Another suggestion in the writer's presentation is to separate the text into residential and commercial categories rather than combining them. If one doesn't have the inclination, or funds for ADT classes this book is your only choice. Regardless, any method will take some time. A must for the ADT R3 drafter's bookshelf.

Good for beginners and advanced

I have had NO previous experience in IT whatsoever. The book was very simple written, step by step.I learned the basics of XHTML very quickly. Now, I am experienced web page builder and don't write codes anymore (I use web page building Applications), but believe me, I open that book almost everyday to refresh my memory.
