Title: Revised Core Rulebook (Star Wars Roleplaying Game)
Publisher: Wizards of the Coast
Authors: Bill Slavicsek, Andy Collins, J.D. Wiker, Steve Sansweet
Rating: 1/5
Customer opinion - 1 stars out of 5
I give it 1 star, and that's generous

Wizards of the Coast seem determined to become the Micro$oft of the RPG industry with mass marketed mediocre products - post D&D3 anyway. Their attempt at a Star Wars RPG completely misses the feel of the setting. WEG's old game remains vastly superior in every way save Prequel Trilogy info. When I play or run Star Wars I don't want D&D3 in space, which is what they've produced. It also doesn't reflect well on them that they produced a book for the Dark Side immediately after the core rulebook. Aiming for the munchkin market, I'd say. If you're after quality gaming, avoid this at all costs. Pick up used WEG Star Wars instead.

Title: Tricks of the Windows Game Programming Gurus
Publisher: Sams
Authors: Andre Lamothe
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
Excellent treatise on a difficult topic

For all its faults, I can unabashedly recommend this book for the nubie to game programming. It is true that there are numerous typos in the but they are easily recognized and do not miss inform the reader. It is also true that this volume one of a multi volume work but the only problem there is that the reader is not informed of this on the cover. The book is quite large enough just covering the basics of game programming and 2D & 2.5D graphics. I was particularly taken with the chapters on AI and Physics they cover the basic of two very difficult subjects.
For a good grounding in game programming, read this book.

Title: Alison Balter's Mastering Microsoft Access 2000 Development
Publisher: Sams
Authors: Alison Balter
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
The best book for Access 2000

This book is the only book you need. Alison shows clear examples that are useful in every day application development. Her book shows how to create a real application on a real life Client/Server environment. It is not for the weak, however. If you are trying to learn Visual Basic, this is also a great book that can show you what you can do with an Access 2000 and VB combination, so that you can understand how to use Access and VB in an toghether. There are very few books that are so comprehensive, yet detailed.
Good job Alison,
Sal

What the hell is this?

This book sucks. Griffths, if you can spend your most time typying FREE solution manual for instructors, and let them cut and copy it and scan them on to their class website, why don't you offer students a solution manual. Why do we have to spend 100 bucks for this thing. I really don't understand the people that wrote GOOD reviews about this book. no answers in the back. skip steps in examples, the author is trying to punk you.
