What book is this?

This was for me the book I used to learn C++ 10 years ago. It is just a good book. If you need to learn C++ professionally this is a book you can buy. I also see some things about a 3rd edition, well that one I do not know. This book is more a tutorial guide then Bjarne Stroustrup's book, The C++ Programming Language Special Edition, his book would be a better refence. This book is more professionally then for example 'Sams teaches you C++ in 5 seconds' or something.

Title: Crystal Reports .NET Programming
Publisher: Bischof Systems
Authors: Brian Bischof
Rating: 4/5

Sweet book!

The book is a Crystal Report - .Net centric book. I don't need to know how to create a report using the crystal interface, I need it to tell me how to create it using he Visual Studio IDE. This book teaches does just that. The best part about a book for me is the author himself. Like other notable technical authors (e.g. Cricket Liu), Brian trolls the newsgroups and on many occassions offers up free advice. Thank you Brian for the book and I hope you stay in the NG's.

Title: Programming Ruby: The Pragmatic Programmers' Guide, Second Edition
Publisher: Pragmatic Bookshelf
Authors: Dave Thomas, Chad Fowler, Andy Hunt
Rating: 5/5

Great introduction through expert level

Ruby is an increasingly popular cross-platform, object-oriented language. With 98 standard libraries and the ability to access Windows native APIs it is a very powerful way to write programs where you might have used CGI, XML, or SOAP before. The book contains an excellent tutorial, a language reference, and documentation on all built-in classes, modules, and methods.

As you would expect, the authors cover installing the software as well as practical examples to help learn the programming techniques. With over 350 pages of documentation and references just on classes and libraries, the coverage is extensive and detailed. This is a very practical guide on how to use Ruby effectively and efficiently. Programming Ruby is highly recommended to anyone who needs a more flexible and powerful programming system than Perl, XML, CGI, or SOAP.

Useless Book

As a senior computer engineer who has been in embedded systems programming for 5 years, I found this book very useless.
If you are looking for my advice, just save your momey and find something else.
