Not for amateurs or beginners

This book never was intended for amateur or beginner Visual Basic developers. This is an advanced Visual Basic book for advanced or more experienced developers. This book is "The Bible" when it comes to programming Visual Basic. This book contains a lot of pages and is one of the thickest books in my Visual Basic 6.0 collection but it is one of the most used books that I have. Although not really a "reference book", I use it to find examples of hard-to-solve problems. If if is not covered in this book, there probably is no solution.

Great introduction to Assembly Language

The problem with learning Assembly Language is learning everything you need to know before you learn Assembly. This book starts you at the very beginning by showing you how memory is addressed, how the internals of the computer work, and numbering systems. Although he doesn't really get into programming until later in the book, by the time he gets there you actually understand what is going on at a low level. And let's face it... if you don't understand the low level of the computer, you don't stand a chance at really understanding Assembly Language. This book should be the starting point for anyone who wants to learn Assembly. Once you've mastered this book, you should be able to pick up any more advanced book and understand what is going on.

More than recipes -- amazingly clear explanations.

This is an incredible book. It doesn't just compile algorithms (recipes), it explains how they work. These explanations are crystal clear. You don't have to be a math whiz to follow the discussion, they use plain language and clear logic.
