Title: Mastering Visual C# .NET

Best C# book

I spent a lot of time at the bookstore reading through the many C# books now available, and this book is by far the best one.
It teaches you everything you need to know to go from complete beginner to expert in both C# and .NET programming. It also covers how to use the Visual Studio .NET tool.
I liked the no-nonsense and tightly focused style of the text. The two authors really know C# and .NET inside out, and it shows in this book.

Title: Digital Compositing In Depth: The Only Guide to Post Production for Visual Effects in Film

Great, hands-on book for anyone interested In Visual FX

Just so there's no impression of bias, I'll mention that I co-wrote one of the case studies, and have a few photos in this book. That being said, I would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn about and create visual effects. Compositing is one of the most crucual elements in the process, and this is the best book on the subject I've ever seen. Doug has written a book with a great combinaion of theory, practical advice, and clear, step-by-step tutorials. Better yet, there is sample software and clips that allow anyone with a decent PC (or Mac) to actually do the exercises. I've been doing visual effects for clients like Fox, UPN, and HBO for ten years, and I wish I'd had this book when I started.

Title: The Elements of User Experience: User-Centered Design for the Web
Publisher: New Riders Press
Authors: Jesse James Garrett
Rating: 2/5

Elementary elements

This book might be good for a beginner, but for anyone who does web design professionally, this book is much too basic. It's also extremely thin...not much text on the pages, and has been laid out in a way to make the page count much higher than it should be.
