Title: Large-Scale C++ Software Design
Publisher: Addison-Wesley Professional
Authors: John Lakos

a 'should read' for every programmer.

This book contains a lot of good hints for things to think about and mistakes to avoid in designing and/or coding a large software projekt. John Lakos hints are very well documented and argumented, they are not just like 'make this, do that'. I really recommend this book to everyone programming something larger than 'Hello World'. Sometimes J. Lakos tends to get a bit long winded when getting to something he thinks is important, but the book is still easy to read and very good to understand.

best so far

Definetly this is the best book so far about CCNA and network stuff in general. It's easy to read and after reading this book I definetly feel more confident and the first time I feel I have the knowledge to pass the CCNA test.

Title: Head First Design Patterns
Publisher: O'Reilly
Authors: Elisabeth Freeman, Eric Freeman, Bert Bates, Kathy Sierra
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
The FIRST design patterns book that anyone must read.

The first Head First book that I bought was Head First Java, which I got from a local store her in Taipei for a good friend of mine who was learning java... but I ended up reading it myself. I was so impressed with that book, that I have to buy Head First EJB and JSP/Servlet for our department.

Now comes probably the best book of the Head First series (and may I mention the best looking cover of them all). It makes reading one of the most serious, important and sometimes difficult to understand subjects in the OO universe fun and easy to read. This isn't the first design pattern I read though, and it made me regret the fact that it wasn't. Maybe the difference between this and any of Mr. Fowler's design patterns books is that this one sits on my cubicle while Fowler's are in my shelf.
