Title: Designing with Web Standards
Publisher: New Riders Press

Excellent!

The best aspect of this book is the fact that not only does it teach you the theories and principles, but also how to apply them in a real world environment and even when you should break the rules. The book is very well written, entertaining and at times humourous, which is rather rare for a book dealing with the topics of Web Standards and accessibility, but just as Zeldman proves that sites utilzing Web Standards can be visually appealing, he also proves that writing about such topics does not need to be dry nor full of techno speak.

Not Bad, if you read the completion guide first

Read the completion guide before you start playing. You can get 100% if you read the completion guide first. I didn't realize it was there until chapter two. I missed .6 percent because I didn't do two small things. It's a lot of page flipping, but you will get 100%. Oh yeah, and you can get all the Al Bhed volumes in chapter one if you're a digging maniac. I got them all eventually. I did like 110 digs and just kept finding them every once in awhile. Plus my level went way up from so many battles and I mastered some dresspheres.

A Good Book it is However, Beginner Book it is Not

A+++ a CD!
Well written and resourced with good humor mixed in to break up any monotonous verbiage. As most of you know Que publishes some of the best material out there aside from some Microsoft Press books as well(I like em).
Like others that have noted in previous reviews this book starts you out with the assumption that that you have used Windows before. This is a good thing for experienced users of Windows products however they should have written the book true to the level as it was given (Beginning Level) on the back cover.
I enjoy this book as both a reference and a study. Most of us who use WinXP Pro on a daily basis will also.
All in all you just can't go wrong with Que books. I also purchased a 13th Edition of Repairing PC's authored by Scott Muller also. Great books! Well worth the money.

Not So Great

This book has some good basics in it, but they are not well illustrated or explained . Much time is spent showing how you can alter images with odd colors or other relatively useless things. The practical information here could have been said in one-quarter the pages. Most of us want to use this ap to make our basic pictures better and to retouch old family photos. You have to dig pretty hard to find that information.
The jokes and smart remarks are not very funny, and you get tired of wading through them to find what you are after. After 20 pages of this, you want the authors to just get to the point.
