Title: Mining the Web: Analysis of Hypertext and Semi Structured Data
Publisher: Morgan Kaufmann
Authors: Soumen Chakrabarti
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
The Best Web Data Mining Text

This book is simply the best web data mining text available. It is simultaneously broad and deep, covering a wide array of topics yet delving into the meatiest parts of Web data mining. Topics covered include classic information retrieval, graph theoretic approaches, Web measurements, and even machine learning methods such as clustering and text classification. One of the reasons why the book succeeds is that Chakrabarti is himself a major contributor to the field. His writing is always clear and precise probably because he frequently lectures on these topics. If you buy one book about data mining on the Web, this should be that book.

Title: Inside Com (Microsoft Programming Series)
Publisher: Microsoft Press
Authors: Dale Rogerson
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
Congratulation Mr. Rogerson. Write more! Please!

COM is an incredbily complex technology, so difficult to comprehend that its concepts are only understood by a relative few. This book does everything possible to simplify and explain COM, step by step. While this book *may* not give you that real-world insight you might have hoped for, it gives you that ever-so-necessary first step. And in COM, the first step is EVERYTHING. Thank goodness this book exists, I have yet to find any book so well suited for introducing a programmer to COM.

If I could, I'd give this book 10 stars! :)

I just wish they required this book for CS Students in college. It could cut my frustrations in half in the average day of being a programmer. It helped me immensely improve my programming skills and gave me some practical advice on how to deal with the Non-programmer types in the office that keep trying to "help" me out. This is absolutely a must read for any programmer out there regardless of platform.
