EXCELLENT - especially for beginners in programming

This book is wonderful if you don't know much about java. It is well written and easy to follow. There are a few times where I got confused on a couple subjects but I usually figured it out by checking SUN's website and re-reading the material. I recommend this book to any aspiring J programmer.

Title: C# for Dummies (With CD-ROM)
Publisher: For Dummies
Authors: Stephen Randy Davis
Rating: 5/5

Gem, in simple terms.

I revisited this book after about a year, and took the time to really read the first 100 pages. In particular, the author's introduction to OOP via C# classes as data structures first, and as more complex objects containing data and methods second, helped me really understand this concept --- maybe for the first time.
His example programs are very clever and deceptively simple at first glance. I think the most valuable aspect to his perspective is he obviously has a talent for teaching the "old school" imperative coders, that need hand holding with the new object paradigm. (Like me)
I really liked Randy's other book on C++, although the "C++ for Dummies" moniker is a riot.
There aren't any dummies doing C++, of that you can rest assured!

Title: Photoshop Elements 2 Solutions: The Art of Digital Photography
Publisher: Sybex Inc

Rating: 2/5

Visually pleasing but lacking substance

I like this book a lot. I am new to Photoshop Elements and have found it very helpful. It has an excellent index and the instructions are clearly written. It comes with a CD which I haven't yet investigated but there appears to be a lot of helpful tools on it - plugins, utilities. The book also has a wonderful feel to it and the pages stay open - you can put the book on your lap while working along with it on the computer and the pages won't flip away from the one you are looking at. I feel as though I got my money's worth with this purchase.

Excellent guide

An excellent book for beginners and for those who want to get familiar with advanced BPEL features. First chapter is a little weak but chapters two and three are great. This book is also a must for everybody working with Oracle BPEL Process Manager (chapter four). The examples are great. Highly recommended.
