Not Much Detail

I was hoping that this book would be a good overview of JavaScript. Instead, it is full of specific examples of code and brief walkthroughs of the code. It would have been much more helpful if there were comprehensive descriptions of the code or objects. And even though the author encourages the reader to place comments in their code, he neglects to do this for the samples. This would have been extremely helpful as there were many times when I understood the code as a whole, but found some statements confusing and could not tell what exactly they were doing.

A "Must" for Studio 9

This is probably one of the most informative books on video editing that you can buy. The author is an expert in the field and has the ability to not just tell you how to do something, but make you understand what is going on and thereby enabling an intuitive feel for using the program. His "Studio 8 for Windows" carried me from the depths of ignorance to a level of competence that allows me to knock out complicated projects in record time; this new Studio 9 version will do the same for you plus. This book will enable the beginner to successfully edit productions with minimum heartache....but READ before you start clicking madly away.

Not enough wood ; too much trees

This book is the only book you will ever need ( aside from the JavaDoc ) to learn Swing properly and effectively. The stuff I can write now after reading this book makes my friends and coworkers heads spin. The sections on the JTrees and JTables is fantastic. I wish the coverage on the HTML ToolKit / Parser stuff was more fleshed out but it points you in the right directions. [Maybe he'll write an addendum and post it somewhere :-)) ] The book is extremely well written contextwise ; you never feel like you are getting lost. It even covers modelling notation. I'm going to buy his next book(s) whenever they come out. I don't even have to read the writeups ; this guy is the best writer for tech stuff I have ever seen and the book is a bargain at any price.

The True Missing Manual Revealed

Whether you just purchased an iPod or have had one for years, you NEED THIS BOOK! This book is the true "Missing Manual." I have bought and returned a lot of books regarding my beloved iPod. This book covers it all in one book. I haven't seen anything like it, and believe me, I have been looking!

You think you know everything about iPods? Want to know how to "do something?" This is your book. I say this because I considered myself a intermediate expert (if such a term exists) helping my friends set up both their iPod and iTunes, fielding ongoing questions, suggesting cool accessory websites, etc, but this book showed me some stuff.
