Excellent...the VI Bible

This book gathers a great deal of information that you can get for free over the web, and puts it into a nice place on your bookshelf. Not a "GREAT" piece of work at all, but then, neither is the VI editor. The true value for me was it's references and comparisons to VI clones that are on the market that you will quickly want to download once you start realizing how awfull VI really is.

It shows me many examples

Even if it is bad as all the gentlemen said, I think at least it gives me many examples which are not mentioned in other books before.

A must-have book for UNIX system call programming

The author knew the original developers of UNIX, and it shows in the quality of the information in the book. Also the writing style and the contents are both very good indeed - to the point, yet detailed where needed. Has examples on basic system calls for file and process management, terminal I/O, IPC, etc. Each chapter ends with a section on portability between various flavors of UNIX. Uses an example of a creating a simple DBMS to illustrate many of the topics. BYTE magazine gave it a very good review. Buy it !

A must-have for every web design professional

Extremely Useful and Usable * Top-notch! I've read most of the current books out on web usability and user-centered design and must say this book was better than I expected. Full of down-to-earth practical techniques, design tips, usability testing recommendations, and very clear advice. I have read it twice, and refer to it frequently. Krug does a great job of giving you just what you need, and in a logical, concise manner.
