Title: Beginning ASP Databases

Excellent Book

When I started to read this book, I have only the knowledge that a user of Microsoft FrontPage may have: Very little HTML. I had zero VBS programming experience and I had some SQL. I am beginning Chapter 12 and I am already creating very impressive ADO/ASP web applications at my job's intranet. This book is an excellent place to start learning ASP.

Title: An Introduction to Genetic Algorithms (Complex Adaptive Systems)
Publisher: The MIT Press
Authors: Melanie Mitchell
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
Excellent book

This is an excellent introductory book on genetic algorithms. It's very concisely written and there are a ton of interesting projects and programs to do. I've done a few of them myself and learned a lot. This book is one of those that I keep going back to and I always find some new idea or thing to try out.

If you're a programmer and have been thinking of getting into genetic algorithms, you won't go wrong with this book. Very highly recommended.

Title: Dynamic Scheduling with Microsoft Office Project 2003: The Book by and for Professionals
Publisher: J. Ross Publishing
Authors: Eric Uyttewaal
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
Excellent self-study and training course text

I am using this text to train 15 Project Managers at Denver Water. All students have expressed that the text is very easy to follow and that the insights and usages of MS Project are thoughtful and effective. I have found very few deviations from the PMBOK and hardly any errors.
The checklists are extremely useful. I have compiled the checklists into a booklet to assure that all my PMs have them readily available when working on their schedules. We now have 15 "perfectly" dynamic schedules in Project Server 2003. The 15 project managers are taking to it like ducks to water and breathing a sigh of relief getting the tool to do what THEY want. We are cutting the overhead of project management and MS Project Usage significantly with a successful application of the thoughtful recommendations Eric Uyttewaal has so carefully communicated in this very helpful text.

Title: Macromedia Flash MX ActionScripting: Advanced Training from the Source

Advanced?

A agree with the other reviewer of this book... it's not worth it. Most of the information you find in this thing is available on the internet all over the place and doesn't need to be repeated in this book. I recommend "Macromedia Flash Super Samuri" instead. There you will find innovative and real-world examples of how to take your Flash authoring to the next level. This book is for absolute beginners.
