Quite good coverage

One of the best book available in the market. I am pleased with the coverage both in depth and width of the subject to certain extent. Initial few chapter talks about .NET and C# basics. The book explains programming ado.net, web services, assemblies, reflection, threads, streams and interoperability with COM etc, in separate chapters. Besides the fact that it is a quite good book, it is annoying to see lots of mistakes. Function names are mixed with camel and pascal notations like myVoidMethod() and MyVoidMethod(). Even we can see the class names myClass and MyClass in examples. Some times code is written for class Hello and explantions is given on class HelloWorld. There are missing links like performance implications on overriding finalize() method etc. Besides all the above problems, I believe, this book deserves 5 stars.

Too bad I can't give it a zero.

Usually the Step by Step books are pretty adequate for learning new technologies. This book, however, leaves a lot to be desired. If you are interested in how old ASP works, this is a good book for you. I am more interested how ASP.NET works and this book was not up to par. It may be OK for some reference items, but does not get the job done for a 'Step by Step' book.

Well written and comprehensive

This is an excellent introduction to C# programming and to .NET in general. Liberty writes well, his examples are clear, and he goes well beyond the fundamentals to provide a comprehensive introducton to the material.
As a VB6 programmer I found it very approachable and easy to read. I was impressed by the tips for VB programmers and the careful explanation of object-oriented programming concepts.
I recommend this book without reservation; it is by far the best general introduction to C# programming currently available. In addition, Liberty provides extensive support on his web page...

Magnificient Book

This is an excellent book written by people who are considered to be Gurus on the subject within Oracle Corp. It gives you the big picture view on how all the modules fit together. It is not your replacement for Oracle users guides and implementation guides, but complements them nicely. It gives you features that are in the upcoming releases too. It is definitely a good buy.
