Title: Sams Teach Yourself ABAP/4 in 21 Days
Publisher: Sams
Authors: Ken Greenwood
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
Very Good Book

I bought the book since I am a beginner in ABAP. Completely disappointed.
* The book is OLD and fails to mention the SAP version it deals with.
*It does not explain ABAP actions but rather shows and tells. How can one learn from this. For example a "logon client" is described as "... the number that the user types in the client field." No mention of the significance of clients for security and different business needs.
*On top of that, the CD with the book claims to be the best instrument in teaching and showing ABAP but it does work on any system later than 95 or NT.
All in all a very poor book.

Title: Critical Testing Processes: Plan, Prepare, Perform, Perfect
Publisher: Addison-Wesley Professional
Authors: Rex Black
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
When the Planning is Everything...

Rex Black helps you think about how testing can help your projects. In particular, the planning chapters (using the running example project) make many of the planning and risk management issues obvious. This book will help you determine which activities make sense for you to perform, how to analyze quality risks, how to estimate the work, and how to speak the language of the business (return vs. cost). If you only read the first seven chapters, you'll be farther ahead in your thinking about testing and preparing your group to test than you ever were before.
The prepare chapters (8-11) help you determine which people to select for your team, and how to prepare your test infrastructure, considering that test managers always have limited budgets, people, or time.
A particularly valuable piece of the perform chapters (12-13) is the discussion of how to manage the test builds, who owns what -- how to remove confusion from "which build do I test now?" to an organized plan of handoffs.
And in the perfect chapters, if you've been looking for a way to teach how to write test reports, chapter 14 is your answer.
If you're a manager, you'll use this book on every project, even if you only review the checklists to see if you've missed anything. If you'd like to become a test manager, read this book. Rex describes numerous ways of managing the testing and working with your peers across the organization, to become successful.
I highly recommend this book, whether you're starting a project, in the middle of a project, or completing one.

Great Book just skip the first chapters about computers!!!

The book is great but it is written for people who never had experience with computers. So I would advise anyone to skip those intial chapters. I highly recommend getting the spiral bound edition because the book is about the size of a major city's Yellow Pages and it is easier to handle.

The screen-by-screen instruction is terrific but of course, I ignore directions such as (open window, hit save, etc..). The lessons at the end of each project allow you to perform the lessons that you just learned. I would advise that you download the lessons on your computer instead of to a disk like the book recommends. Since I was just laid off, the book is great for brushing up on programs that you don't really use on a daily basis. I am planning to get the advanced versions of the book very soon.

A exceptionally book from a great group!

When purchasing any kind of material you must do your research. Well I did and it has paid off!
This is the book you want to have when you are pursuing your Secutity+ certification!
It has so much information that is presented in a way that makes you want to never let it down! Not only will you have this wealth of information, but the authors have included so many hyperlinks related to subject they are addressing. This is great for the person that just wants that extra touch!
The tools which they include on the cdrom are just ones you must have! The missus and myself love testing each other.
There are just too many kudos too list!
When you wake up at 4:30 in the morning and start reading you know you have a great book in your hands!
