I nearly gave up

I read the reviews and then hoped for the best as I could not find another book which would help me learn this programme. I use a MAC and I am reasonably computer savvy soI hoped I would be able to find some work-arounds if needed. All went well until Ch 8 when there were no scroll bars but by reducing the page size I could see what I needed. Ch 9 was the worst. To start with I had a copy of the finished file to pratice on. By deleting bits then trying to replace them I managed to do some of it but there were other problems as well. If I hadn't read the reviews I'd have given up at that point but fortunately the remaining chapters were almost trouble free. I have learnt a lot and I am confident I can create a simple web site using this programme. My other criticism is that the book tells you what to do but seldom explains why so although I have finished it I feel I still have an awful lot to learn so I understand the programme

Title: Developing Series 60 Applications : A Guide for Symbian OS C++ Developers (Nokia Mobile Developer)

Good for Series 60 Programmer

I am begunning writing our first Symbian OS Software and need a reference book. I choice this book because the SDK do not provide systematic instruction for new programmer.
For this book, you can get this.
The first two chapter is fundamentals, it provide detail information for build up and usage of tool for developer.
The chapter 3 say Symbian OS fundamentals, but i thing this so different to understand for first time developer.I suggest rapidly read this chapter, next read chapter 4 and 5,and come back for read more detail.
For this book, we should open the example for fully understand. Because it only said about the main point. This provide the guide for you but if you want more detail should be reference to SDK.
At the end, this is a good book for learning series 60,provide useful information for good programming , but can not replace the SDK document.

5 Stars because I can select 10!!

I am currently teaching the A+ course and this mean coverage of the newest CompTIA exams, the 220-231 and 220-232. The material in these updated exam requires the best possible training guide and once again Mike Meyers is leading the pack.
Making sure that the material is the most up to date this release is not the first on the market but it one of the best on the market. I had the opportunity to help create practice questions for this book so I can say the material is first rate.
Meyer's once again leaves no stone unturned as he covers far more than the exam calls for. His ability to blend humor with knowledge is what makes this book so successful. Meyers take apart every objective and breaks it down into comprehendible and manageable information; all you have to do is pass the exams.
In the over 1100 pages there is the complete exams right before you. This book is one of the first I have seen to cover all the Operating Systems including Windows Me and NT, again Meyers take you beyond the standard cut off point.
Meyers has set the bar that all others will have to exceed and judging form the amount of information this is going to be very difficult. One of the things that always impress me is that Meyers gives you the history, this allows you see where things began and how we got where we are today.
The cd includes hundred's of practice questions, practice exams and videos to help you study and pass the exam first time. Overall about the only to add is a virtual lab included, however with all that is included this is a very complete package.
