The Hard Truth

This is a good book that i read last month. I wanted to write it but thanks that Alan did it. so i think this is a common problem felt by all usability engineers. Everything he has said is a fact. We hope that someday usability becomes a part of software process and a required department like QA, Engineering, etc. ...

Complete and concise. Great reference tool.

Desparate for a good reference that touches on all the aspects, I checked this book out of the Scottsdale City Library. Two days later I had my own copy. It beats my many "Complete References" with their thousands of pages. What a uniquely written book. A visual approach to a visual subject. I think it is excellent for pros who don't memorize all the tags. Beginners may be a little dazed.

Title: Photoshop Classic Effects: The Essential Effects Every User Needs to Know
Publisher: Peachpit Press
Authors: Scott Kelby
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
How Do I Do What I Want to Do?

Scott Kelby, the editor in chief of Photoshop User magazine talks about not how to use Photoshop, but a series of maybe two hundred little hints and tips that show not only how to do something but clearly illustrates the effect being created using actual screen shots.

These are not the super sophisticated complicated and rarely used procedures. These are the techinques that real everyday users have developed to get their jobs done on a day to day basis. It combines in one volume a whole bunch of "Of course, why didn't I think of that," ideas.

What I find in this book is new ideas of ways to convey the message I'm trying to send. Just one or two such ideas makes the cost and the time spent on the book worthwhile.

Title: LDAP System Administration
Publisher: O'Reilly
Authors: Gerald Carter
Rating: 1/5
Customer opinion - 1 stars out of 5
the worst book on ldap with great misleading title

The writer is not putting any attention on "Administration" which is the title of the book! You will only find how to deploy LDAP and basic understanding for LDAP - and that too at primitive level.I don't know how O'reilly can start such a project. You can tell this book as just a compilation of material already out there. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY for THIS BOOK. Seriously.-Kunal
