An MOUS Authorised Instructor from Nigeria

The book provides an excellent treatment for both new users and those upgrading from Word 97. It covers all neccesary topics without going into unneccessary detail. The only thing missing is the MOUS approved courseware logo which we hope should be put on it.
I recommend it to anyone wising to get up to speed quickly on Word 2000. keep up the good work!

A must for every serious .NET developer

This book has every reason to be seen on a serious web developer's bookshelf. The examples are well written with an intermediate to advanced developer in mind. Very well structured chapters. To customize things for people they've got a seperate version in VB.NET. This basically avoids pain of carrying unused pages around.

Other factors like the page, print and formatting qualities are a compliment to this excellent book.

Still the standard

Inside SQL Server 2000 has become my first and most important reference for SQL Server. It's the only source I know (beyond the BOL and white papers) where I can get authoritative and detailed explanations of SQL Server's internals. For example, it's giving me an inside perspective on the SQL2K query optimizer and a fuller sense of what alternatives are available for performance tuning. As another example, as a DBA it's very important for me to know exactly how the transaction log works. I know of no source other than this book that explains it well. I'm about a third through the book, and it's giving me just what I hoped for. This is a must-read for the serious SQL Server 2000 user.

The perfect gift (for yourself!)

I've been a LEGO hobbyist for years, and I'm very excited that my teenage son is now more into it than even I am. I bought this book for him as a Christmas gift, but I had to give it to him early after I saw the incredibly cool robots on the front. We've now both read the book cover to cover (not a small task considering the book is almost 600 pages) and the ideas and information we got from the book could keep us busy for years. The great thing about this book is that it does not just give you step by step instructions on how to build a handful of robots, it teaches you how to build ANY robot that YOU can dream up. A big thanks to the authors for such a great gift!
