Give the Second Edition a Chance

...I can only relate my experience from using this as a textbook for an introductory AI class with assigned topics. I think that the choice of material covered in this book is good, but I don't really think it's very clear in most places and there are not enough (or any) examples in most chapters. I have also used Winston's textbook for a different class, and felt that it was much clearer, as well as provided better relevant examples and problems. After having used both, I prefer Winston's text (ISBN 0201533774) to this one.

Excellent starting point to learn C#

This book is a gentle introduction to C#, the .NET platform, and object-oriented programming. But by gentle, I do not mean weak. There is a wealth of basic foundational instruction in not only the "what", but also the "why's" of the language.
One of the problems I have always had with programming books is that the authors are great technical people, but not-so-great communicators. This book is a refreshing exception to that rule.Instead of assuming a certain level of knowledge, the author is patiently detail-oriented towards giving you a full understanding of the code you are writing, not just slapping together a bunch of esoteric functions and variables.
If want a clear understanding of both "what" you are doing and "why" you are doing it in C#, this book is for you!

a Miracle book

I cannot express how excited I am to find such a book. I wanna email the author of the book and thank him personally for creating such an art. Best book for all programmers and programming concepts with of course emphasis of JAVA. Every concept is followed by an easy example and some questions. This book put me back in track in my major which is Compute Science. Otherwise, I'll be doing IT and Networking right now ( I love it though). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for understanding Object Oriented Concepts and JAVA

Good Coverage.

It is a very good book I have to say. It is for experience DBA on the field. The issues I have are the source code download and errors in the book, but I can not contact to the author or publisher. The following are words from the publishers (Curlingstone.com) Web site (on 3/31/2003): "I'm Reading Your Book, And..."Curlingstone can no longer provide direct support for books. If you have a problem then please either consult the errata or try online user groups and forums. For the book itself, I would give 5 stars. For the polisher support, 1 star (at least the site still there).
