Great Stuff!

This book was required for my Visual Basic programming course. As a novice programmer, I must say that its an excellent way to get started on VB. The "Good Programming Practices" and "Common Programming Errors" commentary littered throughout the text was very useful. As a textbook, its great. As a beginners guide to VB, its also great! If you're looking to get started on unlocking the secrets of VB, get this book!

Title: TCP/IP Network Administration (3rd Edition; O'Reilly Networking)

Wonderful reference

Maintaining any type of computer network is a challenge (to say the least) and books like this one are a welcome addition to any sys admin's library. Above the book's title on the cover are the words "Help for UNIX System Administrators" and that's precisely what this book is. Starting off with a "primer" on TCP/IP and how data moves around on a TCP/IP network gives anyone new to TCP/IP a general idea of how it all works. There are also chapters on configuring your interface (along with general info on installing PPP & SLIP), routing, network servers, and sendmail, all important parts of a TCP/IP system. Near the book's end, the topics of troubleshooting and network security are also addressed.
All the O'Reilly books I have read always have thorough descriptions of the their topics and prove to be excellent sources of information. This book is no exception. If you maintain (or will be maintaining) this type of network, you need this book

Title: Starting an eBay Business for Dummies
Publisher: For Dummies
Authors: Marsha Collier
Rating: 4/5
Customer opinion - 4 stars out of 5

Although the Internet bubble burst, that does not mean that money can not be made via the Internet. Discounting all those spam e-mails about Making Money Fast, Collier provides solid strategies on starting a business using eBay. One of the best well-written business books I've ever read! I definitely recommend this to anyone who either wants to take full advantage of eBay or even just sells the occassional item. Collier's book reminds me of Guerilla PR: Wired, which details strategies for low-cost, but effective public relations coverage. Both deal with how to maximize your business's efforts and reap the rewards.

Title: Programming Embedded Systems in C and C ++

If you're into the 80186...check it out...

This ia a good book for newbies to embedded systems. It gives hints on where to begin if you were working on a kit, but it will not help you if you were developing your own embedded system.
A book on microprocessors (Intel's 8088 for example) and a book on c++ or assembly would be a better start to learn about programming embedded systems. If you had a kit, just read all the manuals and you would have practically the same information presented in this book.
