Title: Learning UNIX Operating System, Fifth Edition
Publisher: O'Reilly
Authors: Jerry Peek, Grace Todino-Gonguet, John Strang
Rating: 5/5

An excellent book - but the title is misleading.

This book was written for the newbie who is using a unix terminal. He don't teach you the installation or config of unix, only gives you an overview of the fundamental commands and tasks (logging, windowing, managing files & directories, background processing and a little more). So if you are using a unix/linux preconfigured system and know nothing about unix, then buy this book or look the net (for there are very much like this and you don't need to pay), if not, forget!!!

Disappointing for O'Reilly.

After reading this book, I didn't have a good understanding of EJBs. The running example is just too contrived to serve as a persuasive reason to use EJBs. Every chapter I was like "Why are they incurring all this overhead with EJBs?". Only after reading another book... did I really understand EJBs. I expect more from O'Reilly, and I cannot recommend this book.

Better than 70-305 and 70-310

It's a good reference but not enough for passing! Although it's much better in term of content that the books for 305 and 310 exams.Again I think MSDN palys a great role (90%) if you really want to pass the exam. You need at lease 1 year experience with VS.NET,.NET and last but not least XML/XSL/Schema.Learn as much as you can regarding ADO.Net and Security in .NET.
I passed the test and officially became MCAD.Good luck!
