Incomprehensible book!

Fifteen years later and the book is still on my desk. If you don't have this book, then you really are not an SQL programmer.

Contains very little information

This book is very disappointing to use. One one hand, it is well written, and very clear to understand. But on the other hand, it contains *very* little information, almost everything I needed I had to find on the net, or search the man pages. It claims "not to be a reference". Then why buy it at all! I'd rather buy a book which teaches the material *and* contains all the information I need.

great for someone who has never worked on a CPU

#Well to begin with ... the book covers 8 out of 10 question from the A+ exam directly or indirectly.#Remember one thing the current exam number is 220-221 and 220-222, and the book covers italot of books available are for 220-201 and 220-202(old). #The Book is written for humans who are looking to enter into IT industry not for technical nerds(ie. it is simple and funny)#The book includes a simulation of the real adaptive test. #Make sure to take the test with the book on the cdrom over and over again as it changes every time you take it.#The books gives you hardworking Mike's personal hardware experience put together with a lot of hard effort.#When you read the book make sure that you read each and every word. #Most of the questions that came were from the book, but the content was put too casually

The ur-text of computer science

The use of assembly language in these books is important because it forces us to look at what the computer is really doing with our code. The level of understanding to be gained from Knuth's books is so far beyond the level in most algorithms and data structure texts that comparisons are meaningless. The books are difficult but rewarding to serious study. Not for the amature hacker but more for the serious computer scientist and student of programming. In other words, if you are looking for packaged code to type into VB look elsewhere. If you want to gain a deep understanding of how software works, here is the original text.
