Only for master C++ developers

This book starts where all others end. Imagine a book about C++ where operator overloading is at page 40! Normally, books about programming starts with a brief introduction about object-oriented development, and some about the language itself. However, in this book, the author starts from the point that you're a master in C++, you know everything abou classes, instantiation, constructors, destructors, virtual functions, operator and function overloading and overriding, and so forth.Due to this, it's an excellent book for programmers who knows C++ and need to know more about C++ Builder tool, and how to extract the maximum power of this tool to implement professional resources in their applications. However, if you're a dummy in C++ (as dummy as me!), don't buy this book before reading a good C++ basics title. Learn C++ before buy!

Title: SPSS Survival Manual: A Step By Step Guide to Data Analysis Using SPSS for Windows (Version 10)
Publisher: Open University Press
Authors: Julie Pallant, Julie Pallant
Rating: 5/5

well named

This book is exactly what it claims to be a "survival manual". It contains step by step instructions and clear explanations of how to use SPSS, how to interpret the results, and selecting appropriate tests. This isn't a statistics primer or a text on research design. This is a book for those who haven't had 5 stats courses & years of using SPSS. If you need help using SPSS to evaluate research data -- get this book. A lifesaver!

Just the book I was looking for!

Before I decided to buy this book I spent a number of hours in Borders going thru all books on Java available. I was looking for a good reference on Swing features. When I stumbled across Deitel's book it captivated my attention right away.I agree now that the book is not for a newbie. I am Java Certified programmer, maybe that's why I haven't had any difficulties understanding the code or explanations.My opinion - the book is great if you have some programming background in Java, and want to learn more ( or use it as a reference). Besides it covers almost all aspects of Java usage, like JSP, serlets, JDBC, etc.

Excellent general reference for both beginners and experts!

I am constantly referring to this book to help me solve a UNIX problem or refresh my memory on a routine task. Great cross-platform coverage. I highly recommend this book to both beginners and experts. If you only have room in your library for one UNIX book, this is it!
