Great Starter Book with Great Examples.

This book is a great starting place for anyone who wants to learn ASP. Although you should have basic knowledge of programming techniques and theory. I bought this book a week ago and am almost done with it. I've already implemented what i've learned and made a little money on the side. The book has paid for itself already!

good points and bad

The book covered almost all material on the first exam which i just got back from passing. Many of the practice questions had a letter answer that did not match the explanation answer. It seemed like there was no proofreading of the questions and answers. The author also defers a lot of the subjects to other books. Overall the book was OK. I used only it, and test kings in order to study and pass the exam.

Works for the test and as a reference

This is the second book by Amit Kalani that I have used to study and pass a certification exam. His thorough examination of topics and well thought out examples and exercises truly illustrate the technology. Even after you pass the test, the book is useful as a reference for your real world work.

I heartily recommend all of Mr. Kalani's certification books.

Title: Effective STL: 50 Specific Ways to Improve Your Use of the Standard Template Library

A must have

Following in the tradition of his prior books, Meyers delivers another gem with Effective STL. This one is a must have for your software development bookshelf.
I user several STL books regularly and none of them have come close to giving me the in depth understanding that this book has. Sure, others are better references, beginner guides, etc.. but if you really want to understand what is going on under the covers and how to write -good- STL, this book is your answer. I have seen suggestions from this book result in massive performance improvements in naively written STL code.
Enough said, go pick up a copy .. :)
