If you only buy one C# book, this is it.

Andrew Troelsen is a great writer. His writing style is very easy to read and enjoyable (and how often is a technical book enjoyable?) The example are well thought out and interesting. I find myself turning to this book first in most cases. I hope Andrew comes out with a new version when the next version of C# arrives.

The Bible for Access 2000 Development

This book is a pleasure to read, it covers everything you need to know in depth. The author's writing style is easy to follow and she knows her subject. I am now half way through it and haven't been able to put it down. She assumes you know something about Access which is refreshing. She still goes over basic points but doesn't dwell on them. This allows her to cover subjects in more detail than other books.

Title: Final Fantasy IX Official Strategy Guide
Publisher: Brady Games

I would demand a refund...

I bought the 'bradygames' final fantasy 8 strategy guide when it came out, even though a different strategy guide was available, the reason i choose the bradygames version is because the other version was almost exactly the same as an online version.
with final fantasy 9 it feels like i spent 12 bucks for a book of 'easy access' codes to playonline. every detail that is usually covered in a strategy guide has a small blue box next to it that says 'for more details go to playonline!'. i dont want to go to playonline! i would have skipped buying the book if i knew that almost this entire guide was filled with ads for playonline...
i would think that two actions are appropriate
1) create a 2nd edition and send it to everyone who bought one of these guides.
2) send out refunds
normally i would live with it, but i expect so much more from bradygames, and squaresoft.

Title: Principles of Data Mining (Adaptive Computation and Machine Learning)
Publisher: The MIT Press
Authors: David J. Hand, Heikki Mannila, Padhraic Smyth
Rating: 1/5

Poorly written book

I was very confused reading this book. It is not written for a beginner and neither is it written for an expert in data mining. That is, this book does not explain what its audience is. As a result I could not get what I was looking for. I am new to data mining and would have benefitted from an introductory book. I also feel that this book will be of little help to someone who has some knowledge of data mining.
