Title: The Cg Tutorial: The Definitive Guide to Programmable Real-Time Graphics Publisher: Addison-Wesley Professional Authors: Randima Fernando, Mark J. Kilgard Rating: 5/5 Traditional graphics textbooks did not contain programmable real-time shading techniques. This book is a good example to fill in this gap. In my opinion, university can start a new course teaching programmable real-time shading....

Title: Mastering Digital SLR Photography (Mastering) Publisher: Muska & Lipman/Premier-Trade Authors: David D. Busch Rating: 2/5 As a owner of a new Canon 20D. I was looking for a comprehensive book on tips & techniques unique to digital SLR cameras. My first experience with photography was 1980 when I bought a Canon A1. At which time I would glean through photography books & magazines to discover how to be more creative with my camera. My experience also includes computers when I get a program I would get comprehensive books on tips & techniques unique to that program (some with the title starting with Mastering * etc) which were very comprehensive. This book is not, it should be called ( A Buyers Guide To Know If Digital SLR Cameras Are Right For You ). But you will need to look at other reviews for specifics on each camera. For this book's resounding theme is the comparison between a point & shoot digital & a SLR digital camera.

Title: Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003 Step by Step Publisher: Microsoft Press Authors: Online Training Solutions Inc., Inc. Online Training Solutions Rating: 5/5 This is a great book if you are totally new to FrontPage. I'm experienced with all the other MS Office programs, and was able to teach myself the basics of FrontPage while I waited for this book to come in--and in fact, had already created my first site. But if you don't have much of a background in MS Office products or webpage building at all (which I didn't), then this is a great book to start with.

Title: Wireless Communications: Principles and Practice (2nd Edition) Publisher: Prentice Hall PTR Authors: Theodore S. Rappaport, Theodore Rappaport Rating: 4/5 A must-have for a beginner in the field of Wireless Communications. The author covers a wide range of topics starting from basic Cellular System engineering to topics like mobile channel characterization, fading and diversity, channel coding, modulation etc.. The book also provides a very good introduction to First and Second generation Mobile communication standards. The authors style is very good and easy to understand. A lot of unnecessary math is avoided and very good overview is presented. But the thing I liked the most in this book is the exercise problems at the end of each chapter and the references. Working out the problems in the end will help a lot in gaining a deeper insight into the concepts explained in the book. Overall.. this book certainly deserves 5 *'s !
