Title: Final Cut Express 2 Editing Workshop (DV Expert Series)
Publisher: CMP Books
Authors: Tom Wolsky
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
Necessary book for someone starting to use Final Cut Express

Final Cut Express is a great but challenging program. Apple provides some useful printed help with FCE 2 (as opposed to the misleading and electronic-only manual with FCE 1), but Mr Wolsky's book enabled me to explore the program's many features and develop confidence in using it.

The included DVD provides lots of hands-on material to go along with each lesson. The video material is quite charming too! There is also on the DVD a visual essay about stepping up from iMovie to Final Cut Express.

The chapters are well organized and crisply written. The sequence of chapters is logical. The book teaches how to edit and work with digital video. It also passes on a surprising amount of insight about how to think about the broader project of creating a video. I return to the book from time to time when I'm stuck and generally can find what I need.

This book is a model for what a software manual should be.

Good last minute review

I do have real world experience and education in the field so I used this book basically as a refresher for the Network + test. The book did this job well. I read the book over and over for about 3 weeks and I feel it did a good job in getting me ready for the test. There are some typos in the books that should be corrected. This book does not cover all the questions that are on the exam. A few questions had me scratching my head. All in all I think if you either have some experience in the field or a computer educational background along with this book you should have no problem on the test. I received a 806/900 and this was the only book I used to study with.

Title: The PMP Exam: How to Pass on Your First Try
Publisher: Velociteach Press
Authors: Andy Crowe
Rating: 4/5

Very Helpful book

Just like you, I was also looking for a study aide for the PMP exam. I bought this book after reading what others had to say (but never took them at their face value). As I read the book, I found a very natural flow of information. Unlike PMBOK, information in this book is very easy to understand (as well as relate to). Andy's decision to have the Integration Management is extremely helpful. Moreover, this book is solely focussed to get you the PMP certificate and believe me it will.
I did pass the PMP exam with great score in my very first try. Judging by the questions that appeared on the exam, I believe that I might have done that just by studying this book alone.
Good Luck to future PMPs, this is the one for you.
