Caveat Emptor

A must-have for a beginner in the field of Wireless Communications. The author covers a wide range of topics starting from basic Cellular System engineering to topics like mobile channel characterization, fading and diversity, channel coding, modulation etc.. The book also provides a very good introduction to First and Second generation Mobile communication standards. The authors style is very good and easy to understand. A lot of unnecessary math is avoided and very good overview is presented.
But the thing I liked the most in this book is the exercise problems at the end of each chapter and the references. Working out the problems in the end will help a lot in gaining a deeper insight into the concepts explained in the book.
Overall.. this book certainly deserves 5 *'s !

IF you are serious? This book is too ..

This is not the book for a light superficial reader. This is a book for a serious learner. I have been dancing around the idea of database programming in VB.net for several months now. But this is the book that has really got me started.
I admit I threw away this book after reading 6 pages in the first chapter. It has got me confused and overwhelmed by all the new glossary and high detail level. But a couple of weeks later I have decided to give it another try. And I thank God I did so.
Skipping the first two (basic science) chapters you can start rightaway by the third (visual database tools) chapter and still keep up. Beleive me if I said that each single word from there on is an essential piece of information.
Although I haven't finished reading it but I thought it's quite fair to clarify the above points about this great and serious book.
I am really enjoying reading it, I take it with me everywhere. And I have started already practically verifying examples to help me through the course of learning which is by the way "Amazing"...

The perfect guide for the "bi-directional" tendencies in you

The is a must-have book for those of us not well versed in both AutoCad and Microstation. It is expecially valuable if you are proficient in one system, and have had some training but not much experience with the other. No matter which way you are approaching from, you are able to understand the instructions by using whichever you are most proficient in. What more can you ask? Simple instructions & good illustrations.

Good on relational theory, poor on object orientation

Unfortunaqtely I was one of the unlucky that did advanced database systems without going first into basic database structures. Seeing this book in my library was a trip of my eye when I was desperately seeking some book which would sign the theory I was taught and was made to be referenced by papers! This book has everything that is going to be standard in the future. Days of single-user database systems is going to end and we better understand this quickly. With this book I will not be guilty failing the course because I will have this book as a guide to try again. Wish I could see this book earlier... And yes I am a Mathematician but believe me this in the future wont make a bit of difference. But I quite agree this book is a little too much to be given to kids...
