Title: How to Be Invisible: The Essential Guide to Protecting Your Personal Privacy, Your Assets, and Your Life (Revised Edition)
Publisher: Thomas Dunne Books
Authors: J.J. Luna
Rating: 5/5

Save your life information

"Mr. Invisible 'secretcy'" doesn't know what he's talking about and can't spell. This is a great book; the newest edition is as current as the print date would allow, and you can keep current by visiting Mr. Luna's website. Getting (free, might I add), relevant, up-to-date advice from a top expert is not to be discounted, and the author stays in touch with his readers. This is not about doing anything underhanded (which Luna is staunchly against), but about protecting one's sacred privacy. This is clearly a person with strong principles. GREAT resource!!!

Title: Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Performance Optimization and Tuning Handbook
Publisher: Digital Press
Authors: Ken England
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
Great book. Best if used in pair with inside SQL Server 2000

There is much overlap with the inside sql server 2000 book from microsoft but that book is more a detailed survey with a intuitive technical foucus while this book is a more pratical focus. These two books work together to form the ultimate 'book'. This book covers everything in detail and has many practical expamples, but the examples are not page fillers. It actulaly has many less pages than inside sql server.

Title: Object-Oriented Analysis and Design with Applications (2nd Edition)
Publisher: Addison-Wesley Professional
Authors: Grady Booch
Rating: 4/5
Customer opinion - 4 stars out of 5
A classic, but a little difficult to read

The author has what I would call an "academic" writing style which makes the book a bit more difficult to read than it needs to be. It is full of great information, but sometimes you will have to read a paragraph several times to fully understand it. This is not necessarily bad, but if you prefer a more practical or conversational style you should probably find another book.
The book thoroughly covers all of the fundamental concepts of object oriented design in a language-independent way. Although there are some C++ code samples they are brief and it is not necessary for the reader to have a C++ background to learn the OO concepts presented in the book.
Even though there are newer books out there you still should consider this one because the concepts presented such as encapsulation and polymorphism have not changed and are well covered in this classic work.
