why did I buy this?

This is by far the best Perl book I have ever read, I have had no other book recommended to me more highly. As with all O'Reilly books, this one beats the competitors hands-down.

Title: Robot Building for Beginners
Publisher: Apress
Authors: David Cook
Rating: 5/5

Wow, a complete robot book!

Wow, a complete book for hobby robots. Not since my first robot book in the seventies by Tab have I seen such a great robot book. David does what the other books lack; he gives you part numbers and sources. And when you are done, you have a working robot. Not just someones ideas. I do not know how many times I have read a book only to spend days or fail in finding the parts the author used. The pictures are top notch and very clear. Wish some web site publishers would take notes of his great pictures! I would not call my self an expert, but I picked up several new ideas from the book. This is a first class book for a beginner or experienced robot builder alike. I have also recommended it to several of my customers. Hope David writes another book, I can't wait.Rick RowlandNorland Researchwww.smallrobot.com

Title: Official Final Fantasy VII Strategy Guide
Publisher: Bradygames
Authors: David Cassady
Rating: 2/5
Customer opinion - 2 stars out of 5
A Very Mediocre Guide to a game like FFVII

In a game of huge secrets and side quests, this guidebook lacks in many many areas. The walkthrough is only good if you do not want to find everything the game has to offer. The only way you will get everything in the game is if you read the book first and then play the game, which should not be the case for a strategy guide. For one, the secrets/side quest area is in the back and there is no mention during the walkthrough if you might be missing something (or no reference to the side quests). A few of the side quests only give you one chance to perform that task and without warning, such as the case with this guide, you will definitely miss it (ex. Turtle Paradise posters in Shinra HQ). Another problem is the grammatical errors with which the guide is filled. I have perused the guide for FF8, which I believe is fantastic, and this guide does not even compare. You are better off downloading & following the free walkthroughs online instead of wasting money on this guide.
