From Dummy to Smarty

This book is guaranteed to make you an AutoCAD smarty! I teach AutoCAD courses and I'm recommending this book to students for its step-by-step approach; clear organization prioritizing the information between essential and advanced tips or warnings, etc.; helpful and abundant graphics and screen shots; advice that could only come from professional experience, letting us know what is the best way to use this software, instead of just hurling every possible method at us without any guidance; coverage of drafting, design, and project management issues related to the software; coverage of the fun stuff like 3D, etc. And best of all, the book has a great sense of humor! Written in a warm, conversational tone, with humorous as well as frank commentary, this book will make you realize that you are being guided by a real person who is giving you the inside story on how we really use AutoCAD day to day in the workplace.

intermediate User Loves This Book

I've been programming part-time for work and school over the last 3 years. At my new full-time job I'm doing enough programming to warrant upgrading my skills. After reading many reviews I thought this book would be the perfect combination of real-world usability/practicality and some of the more theoretical stuff (like class modules) which I have never been able to pick up on my own.So far it has lived up to my expectations perfectly. I highly recommend this book.Brad

Potentially Good Reference; Not for Pedagogy

The author achieves a commendable balance between breadth and depth. None of the topics are discussed at a superficial level. In addition, this text is written in a highly readable style. External sources are frequently referenced, quoted, and summarized. There is an emphasis on software metrics in chapter 5 and chapter 18. A section on structured methods is contained in chapters 11-14. A section on object-oriented methods is contained in chapters 19-23. Excellent introduction to advanced topics such as formal methods, reengineering, client/server, and computer-aided software engineering. Breaks CASE tools into 23 categories. Each chapter includes a set of problems and points to ponder.

WOW! I understood this the first time!

LDAP and LDAP implementation explained in plain English. A big book with as much information as you could possibly need. It makes a handy reference guide or can be read from start-to-finish. It won't make you an LDAP guru overnight, but maybe in a couple of days.
