Definately Beginner *Programmer* level

I was a big fan of the previous version of this book, though a bit discouraged that it didn't go into enough depth on the more advanced topics. This book more than makes up in that regard. With a wealth of information on ADO and the ASP Object Model, this is the only book you'll need to learn ASP. Both comprehensive and easy to follow--quite an accomplishment. Higest recommendation.

Title: Introducing Microsoft .Net, Third Edition

VERY BRIEF introduction to .NET

This is an excellent book if you are a completely ignorant as far as .NET is concerned but have a good understanding of general programming concepts. Would be a good read for technically literate management. However if you intend to become fully proficient you will probably need another book in addition to this one.

Title: Learning Cocoa with Objective-C, 2nd Edition
Publisher: O'Reilly
Authors: James Duncan Davidson, Inc. Apple Computer
Rating: 3/5
Customer opinion - 3 stars out of 5
A good book, but not the best book

A very popular book, and greatly improved in its second edition. Very example and tutorial oriented; somewhat out of date at this point, however.  Helps the user learn Interface Builder, ProjectBuilder and Objective-C, too. Possibly a bit shallow to get the reader writing their own Cocoa programs from scratch, but a good introduction. Ultimately, probably not as recommended for a first purchase as Cocoa Programming by Scott Anguish or Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X by Aaron Hillegass.

Title: The Art and Science of Digital Compositing
Publisher: Morgan Kaufmann
Authors: Ron Brinkmann
Rating: 5/5

written by the expert

I learned sooo much from this book. Mr. Brinkman has not only worked on tons of great movies but he created Apple's "Shake" compositing software which is used on almost all Hollywood movies these days. When I was starting out as a roto artist EVERYBODY said to get this book and they were right!
